Killing Newborns

(or, in the long run, anyone else who is not convenient)

March 2, 2012 -- an article today about the 'theoretical' killing of newborns appeared in a British medical journal. The baby does not have to be sick or disabled in any way. The journal claims the article is simply 'theoretical.'

Here is the abstract:

Abortion is largely accepted even for reasons that do not have anything to do with the fetus' health. By showing that (1) both fetuses and newborns do not have the same moral status as actual persons, (2) the fact that both are potential persons is morally irrelevant and (3) adoption is not always in the best interest of actual people, the authors argue that what we call ‘after-birth abortion’ (killing a newborn) should be permissible in all the cases where abortion is, including cases where the newborn is not disabled.

Our oldest son was conceived the month Roe v. Wade passed, in January of 1973. The first advice we were given was to abort, because the baby was a danger to my health. He is 38 now, the best son we ever could have had, a fantastic husband and father in his own right.

When Noah got off the Ark, one of the directions given to him, and thus to the human race, by the Lord, was as follows: "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man." This has nothing to do with the body or the mind, actually, but with the spirit. In John 4, Jesus told the woman at the well, "God is spirit." And we were created in the image of God.

When we abandon our Judeo-Christian heritage as a culture, we abandon all bases of morality and ethics. That means they are now up for grabs, and whoever is in power can declare what morality and ethics will be enforced.

Paul told Timothy this would be a sign of the end times:

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God -- having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

It should also be mentioned that in Romans 1, Paul describes what we will see in the characters of those who deny God and suppress the truth:

Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:28-32)

We have been horrified that Chinese will drown their baby daughters because they are only allowed one child and they want a son. We are no different.

Whether it is the explosive situation in the Middle East, the imminent collapse of the world economy, the progressive paganization of our culture, or the simple explosion of evil and excuses for it, as they all come together, we can know for sure we are in the last days.

Do not expect some kind of 'revival.' That is not what the Bible tells us is going to happen. What it tells us will happen is exactly what we are seeing now. It's almost finished.
